WHAT THE DAY LOOKS LIKE
A first mountain, with a lift home
The easiest way into the Alps we know. We drive you down from Munich, walk up the mountain that faces the Zugspitze, eat at the hut on top, and ride the cable car back down. No ropes, no exposure, no equipment — just a long, good walk at your pace.
The balcony of Garmisch
Wank is where locals go to look at the other mountains. The trail climbs through meadows and forest, the view opens up behind you as you go, and at the top the whole Zugspitze massif stands in front of you.
The summit hut
Wankhaus has a sun terrace and a kitchen that has been feeding walkers for decades. Lunch there, with the 360-degree view, is most of the reason for the day.
Down the easy way
Ten minutes in the cable car, then time in Garmisch-Partenkirchen before the quiet drive back to Munich.

THE ROUTE
HOW THE DAY RUNS
Munich → Garmisch-Partenkirchen → Wank summit → cable car → Garmisch-Partenkirchen → Munich
• Pick-up at your hotel or apartment in Munich — a short briefing about the hike on the way.
• Drive to Garmisch-Partenkirchen — about ninety minutes through the alpine foreland.
• The ascent — three to four hours through meadows and forest, at your pace, with stops whenever you want them.
• The summit — lunch at the Wankhaus and the full panorama of the Zugspitze massif.
• Cable-car descent — ten minutes down, with a different view the whole way.
• Garmisch-Partenkirchen — the old town and the painted houses of Ludwigstraße.
• Optional dinner, then door-to-door back to Munich.

BEFORE YOU COME
MEETING POINT
Door-to-door. We collect you from any hotel or apartment in the Munich city area and bring you back to the same address. The exact pick-up time we agree with you personally.
WHAT TO BRING
• Comfortable shoes with decent grip — no boots needed
• A warm layer: it is often ten degrees colder at the summit than in Munich
• Sunglasses, sun cream and a hat
• A small backpack for your own water and snacks
KNOW BEFORE YOU BOOK
The ascent takes three to four hours at an easy pace, with breaks whenever you need them. You do not need mountain experience, but you should be comfortable walking uphill for that long. If the weather makes the hike impossible we switch to the car tour and show you around
