WHAT THE DAY LOOKS LIKE
Ludwig's Bavaria, at your pace
This is the royal day, built around what you actually want to see. We pick you up in Munich and drive south with the day still open: the abbey and the palace are the fixed points, and the afternoon is yours to choose.
Ettal Abbey
A baroque monastery in a green valley, still working after seven centuries, with a brewery and a distillery attached. It takes twenty minutes to walk through and stays with you longer.
Linderhof
The smallest of Ludwig II's palaces, the only one he finished, and the one he actually lived in. Gilded rooms, a mirror hall, and gardens that make more sense than the building does — with a fraction of the crowd at Neuschwanstein.
Your afternoon
The Partnachklamm gorge with the old town of Garmisch-Partenkirchen, the Zugspitze summit with Eibsee lake at the foot of it, or the painted houses and violin workshops of Mittenwald. We decide together after lunch, based on the weather and on how the day feels by then.

Partnachklamm & Garmisch-Partenkirchen
A walk between 80-metre limestone walls with the river roaring beside you, then the frescoed houses of Ludwigstraße and the stories behind them.
Zugspitze summit & Eibsee lake
The cable car to 2,962 m and the terrace where more than 400 peaks in four countries stand in front of you, then down to turquoise Eibsee for the short walk to the bridge with the best view on the water. Mountain weather decides the summit, so we keep it open until the day itself.
Mittenwald & the lakes
The violin-making village under the Karwendel wall: painted house fronts, workshops that are still working, and the quiet lakes above the town before the road home.

Munich → Ettal Abbey → Linderhof → your afternoon → dinner → Munich
• Pick-up at your hotel or apartment in Munich — we agree the shape of the day during the drive.
• Ettal Abbey — a Benedictine monastery founded in 1330 and rebuilt under a baroque dome, in a quiet alpine valley.
• Linderhof Palace — Ludwig II's most personal palace and its gardens. Entry ticket extra.
• Your afternoon — the Partnachklamm gorge with Garmisch-Partenkirchen, the Zugspitze summit with turquoise Eibsee below it, or Mittenwald and the lakes.
• Dinner — optional, at a restaurant we actually eat at.
• Back in Munich — door-to-door, in the evening.

BEFORE YOU COME
MEETING POINT
Door-to-door. We collect you from any hotel or apartment in the Munich city area and bring you back to the same address. The exact pick-up time we agree with you personally.
WHAT TO BRING
• Comfortable shoes with decent grip — no boots needed
• A warm layer even in summer: it is often ten degrees colder at the summit than in Munich

KNOW BEFORE YOU BOOK
Visining Zugspitze is better in the morning unless the weather forecast is better aftnernoon. Linderhof sells timed entry tickets — we will plan the day around the entry slots. Grotto is not accessible in winter time. When we can, we run the day with both of us, so you get two hosts rather than one.

Our day spent with Yulia & Rudi was the highlight of our days in Germany! We felt like we were being shown around by good friends all day long. They were flexible & accommodated our wishes of things to skip & sights we definitely wanted to see. Yulia brought delightful snacks, even accommodating my vegan diet. The Tesla was a sparkling & comfortable ride & Rudi was a safe, attentive driver. We enjoyed a late lunch together & had a lovely time. We hiked, swam & took many photos! Yulia even made a video of photos she took. It was wonderful to have a “photographer”! My favorite parts of the sights were going through the Platnachklamm Gorge, & swimming in the tourquoise waters of Eibsee Lake. Truly so beautiful. Our day was a very special balance of sights and experiences and learning & spending time with new people who quickly felt like friends. If you can get on Yulia & Rudi’s schedule, you will be treated to a most dreamy day, no matter which experience with them you choose to enjoy!
