WHAT THE DAY LOOKS LIKE
A hike planned around you
There is no single route here. We talk about what you want from the day and how far you want to walk, and then we pick the mountain. Höllentalklamm, Hausberg, Kreuzeck, Osterfelder, Kramer — each is a different kind of day, and all of them are on our doorstep.
The gorge
Höllentalklamm is the gentlest of them: an almost level approach that ends in a gorge cut between vertical walls, with the path running through tunnels and over bridges above the water. From there we can carry on up towards Osterfelder for a few hours more.
The ridges
Kreuzeck is a steady climb with the whole valley opening up behind you, and Hausberg is the short version of the same idea. Kramer is the serious one — long, steep, and for walkers who already know what their legs can do.
At your pace
Up to seven hours of walking, but slowly, with breaks whenever you want them. No mountain experience needed; only the willingness to go uphill for a while.

THE ROUTE
HOW THE DAY RUNS
Garmisch-Partenkirchen → the trailhead we choose together → the gorge, the ridge or the summit → Garmisch-Partenkirchen
• Meet in Garmisch-Partenkirchen — we can collect you from your accommodation if that is easier. The exact start point depends on the route.
• The route — agreed with you beforehand: Höllentalklamm, Hausberg, Kreuzeck, Osterfelder or Kramer.
• The ascent — three to five hours at your pace, with stops for water, photographs and the view opening behind you.
• The high point — an hour or more at the top, with lunch at a mountain hut or the picnic you brought.
• The descent — on foot, the way we came or by a second trail. Most of these routes have no cable car, so we plan the way down as carefully as the way up.
• Back in Garmisch-Partenkirchen in the late afternoon.

BEFORE YOU COME
MEETING POINT
The hike starts in Garmisch-Partenkirchen depending on the route. We will provide an exact location after the booking. Pick-up is optional too.
WHAT TO BRING
• Comfortable shoes with decent grip — no boots needed
• A warm layer: it is often ten degrees colder at the summit
• Sunglasses, sun cream and a hat
• A small backpack for your stuff
KNOW BEFORE YOU BOOK
The route is fully customized , but this tour implies a real hike, most probably without a cable car option. Be ready to walk up to 7 hour, but in easy, relaxed pace, with plenty of breaks whenever you need them. You don't need any prior mountain hiking experience, but you should be comfortable walking uphill for that long. Children and pets are very welcome—just be ready to carry them if they get tired!
If the weather makes the hike impossible, we have a few great backup options:
1. We can reschedule the tour for another day if it works for your calendar.
2. We can easily switch to a comfortable car tour (for groups of up to 4 people).
3. We can refund the tour in full, minus a minor 5% bank processing fee.
Whenever possible, we run our tours with both of us, meaning you get two local hosts instead of just one!
